Arts Digital acquires The Expansion Broadcast Company
Robert Emery, the CEO of Ted’s List, is proud to announce that expansionbroadcast.com is now part of the Ted’s List family. Arts Digital Ltd, the parent company of Ted’s List, has acquired www.expansionbroadcast.com in September 2023.
Expansion Broadcast (EXBC) was a podcast and streaming internet radio show based out of Washington, DC. It was run by IllEffect (a.k.a. Erictronica) and cohosted by Deinfamous, Whighzeguy, Refugee, Tsurugi, and Encryption (Harry Ransom also makes frequent appearances). Their aim was to deliver fresh dubstep, future garage, bass music, and drum & bass mixes to their audience weekly through live internet stream on Fridays (7 PM EST), their podcast, or via RSS.
Launched in September of 2003, Expansion Broadcast was one of Destroyer.net’s first radio programs dedicated to bringing you the best in drum and bass, hip hop, and UK Garage from the Washington DC/Baltimore corridor. Founder, IllEffect, was aided by co-hosts, MC insuWRECKtionist and Direct Logic, when the show launched out of College Park, Maryland. A year later, EXBC relocated to Washington, DC gaining a new co-host Shade.
In the summer of 2004, Expansion Broadcast family grew to include four of Washington DC’s finest DJs/producers: Deinfamous, Darkenetiks, Hitoi, and Ransom delivered new talent and variety to EXBC as it refocused almost entirely on drum & bass music.
In the years since, Expansion Broadcast has continued to evolve. While still covering drum & bass thanks to Deinfamous, IllEffect, and the many EXBC podcast contributors, the current stack of hosts all touch on other genres including dubstep, bass music, house, and techno.
Robert Emery says “Expansion Broadcast was, for many years, one of the most globally recognised drum & bass podcasts on the planet. I’m honoured that we’ve been able to pull this fantastic resource into the Arts Digital portfolio, and look forward to growing the Ted’s List drum and bass content whilst being able to feature the original EXBC material.”
