A guitar shaped like a toilet seat—because why not?

The Crapomatic 76” Toilet Seat Guitar, a one-of-a-kind creation by D Guitars Miami LLC, is a testament to the boundless creativity and unconventional thinking that defines the world of custom guitar design.

This bizarre instrument, which literally takes the shape of an oversized toilet seat, challenges our preconceptions of what a guitar can be and pushes the boundaries of both form and function.

The 7 Weirdest Guitar Modifications You'Ll Ever See

While some may dismiss the Crapomatic as a mere novelty or a gimmick, it is impossible to deny the skill, craftsmanship, and sheer audacity that went into its creation. This makes it a true conversation piece and a symbol of the limitless possibilities of musical expression.

Love it or hate it, the Crapomatic 76″ Toilet Seat Guitar reminds us that sometimes, the most memorable and impactful instruments are those that dare to be different, even if that means embracing the absurd and the unexpected.

The iPhone guitar—fully functional with a built-in touchscreen

Lava Me 3 Iphone Guitar

The Lava Me 3 is a groundbreaking instrument that seamlessly combines classical guitar with modern technology. It features a built-in touchscreen that allows players to access a wide range of features and functions.

This innovative guitar dubbed the “iPhone guitar,” enables musicians to tune their instruments, access virtual effects pedals, and even record their performances directly on the device.

With its sleek design and intuitive interface, the Lava Me 3 is perfect for tech-savvy guitarists who want to push the boundaries of what’s possible with their instrument. Whether you’re a beginner looking for a versatile learning tool or a professional seeking to expand your creative horizons, the iPhone guitar is sure to inspire and delight you.

3

LED light-up frets—it’s like playing Guitar Hero but in real life!

The Fret Zealot, an innovative guitar accessory that incorporates LED light-up frets, has taken the guitar world by storm. It offers players a revolutionary way to learn and master their instrument.

By illuminating the fretboard with vibrant, color-coded lights, the Fret Zealot transforms the learning experience into an immersive, interactive game, much like playing Guitar Hero but with a real guitar in hand.

Clear acrylic guitar filled with glittering water and goldfish
(for that funky aquarium vibe!)

Aquarium Acoustic Guitar

In a stunning display of creativity and unconventional design, a clear acrylic guitar filled with glittering water and live goldfish has emerged as a one-of-a-kind instrument that pushes the boundaries of what a guitar can be.

This mesmerizing creation seamlessly blends the worlds of music and aquatic art. It offers players and audiences alike a truly immersive and captivating experience, as the gentle movements of the goldfish and the shimmering water create a hypnotic visual accompaniment to the guitar’s sound.

Aquarium Electric Guitar

While some may question the practicality or even the ethics of housing live fish within a musical instrument, there is no denying the sheer artistry and innovation that went into crafting this unique piece, which stands as a testament to the limitless possibilities of human creativity and the enduring power of music to inspire and amaze.

5

Reverse neck guitars where the high strings are on top—why make it easy?

Jimi Hendrix Unique Guitar Tuning

Reverse-neck guitars, where the high strings are positioned on top, have emerged as a unique and challenging twist on traditional guitar design. They appeal to players who seek to push the boundaries of their skills and explore new sonic possibilities.

By inverting the string order, these unconventional instruments force guitarists to rethink their approach to fingering, strumming, and even their overall playing style, creating a sense of unfamiliarity that can be both frustrating and exhilarating.

While some may dismiss reverse-neck guitars as a gimmick or an unnecessary complication, proponents argue that the unique layout can inspire new creative ideas, encourage players to break out of their comfort zones, and even help develop greater dexterity and adaptability on the fretboard.

6

Chainsaw guitars for the ultimate metal aesthetic

The chainsaw guitar featured in the Doom video game series has become an iconic symbol of the franchise’s high-octane, demon-slaying action.

This unconventional instrument, wielded by the game’s protagonist, the Doom Slayer, is a fearsome combination of a traditional electric guitar and a menacing chainsaw.

The chainsaw guitar not only serves as a brutal melee weapon but also plays a role in the game’s heavy metal-inspired soundtrack, adding to the adrenaline-pumping atmosphere.

A Chainsaw Guitar

With its aggressive design and unique gameplay mechanics, the chainsaw guitar perfectly encapsulates the Doom series’ over-the-top, unapologetically violent nature.

7

A guitar that’s also a BBQ grill—who says you can’t shred and grill at the same time?

A Guitar B-Que

The Guitar B-Que is a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of guitar enthusiasts who refuse to be confined by traditional instrument designs.

This one-of-a-kind creation seamlessly combines the joy of playing music with the pleasure of grilling, allowing you to jam out while cooking up a delicious meal.

The guitar features a built-in BBQ grill, complete with a heat-resistant neck and a removable grill top, making it the perfect companion for outdoor gatherings and tailgate parties.

While the Guitar B-Que may not be the most practical choice for serious musicians, it’s certainly a conversation starter and a unique way to combine two of life’s greatest passions: music and food.

While the idea of a touchscreen on the Lava Me 3 is innovative, I’m skeptical about its practicality. Touchscreens on a guitar sound like they could complicate things more than necessary. How responsive is it during a live performance, and does it withstand the rigors of touring? Tech integration in traditional instruments should enhance, not hinder, the playing experience.

A guitar that’s also a BBQ grill is literally music to my ears and food to my belly. Can I play some hot licks while cooking steaks? Lol, who even comes up with this stuff? Rock on, Lewis.

Ted's List is a project run by The Emery Foundation - a Micro-Trust of GivingWorks, registered charity number 107877.

The idea of Ted's List was setup to raise funds for musicians during the Covid-19 pandemic as part of the Get Musicians Working project.

Our 'Champions' are the musicians we think showcase their instrument to the wider public, and make a substantial difference to the popularity of their instrument family. Non of the 'Champions' are remitted in any way by Ted's List, and our list is completely impartial. If you have a favourite musician you would like to nominate to be added to our list of 'Champions', then please do contact us.
