Well hi there!
I’m Robert, and I’m fortunate enough to have been a professional musician since the age of 16. However, if my name is Robert, how come my website is called Ted’s List?!
In 2015 I became a Father. Teddy came into the world and has since gone on to appreciate music as much as I do. Music is definitely my life and passion, touring the world as a conductor and pianist, performing with the most incredible talents in the world.
And since Ted went to school, I had his buddies along with their parents constantly ask me for tips on music and learning a musical instrument. So how could I assist them?
And that’s how Ted’s List came to be.

There is no certification needed to teach music. Nothing at all. Shocking, I know – but a fact. What this means in reality, is that you could be obtaining completely wrong advice from someone calling themselves a ‘professional musician’; but who has never formally trained.
You wouldn’t believe how many trombone teachers don’t know the difference between straight tenor and trigger-type tenor trombones.
That is where our industry experts come in. And no, unlike other websites which shall stay nameless, our experts are real-life, performing, qualified musicians. They are the best in the business, in either the UK or America. Some are even famous names. And all enjoy writing trombone reviews!

Trombone | Getting Started
Playing a Trombone instrument can be massive fun, especially if you are starting young and choosing one of those funky coloured plastic pBones! But regardless of the age you start playing, starting an instrument from the very beginning can have quite a steep learning curve.
Research is really important. Try to read some Trombone Reviews, and find out what Trombone is going to be the best for you and your personal circumstance. Remember to get the very best instrument you can afford to buy.
You will also want to consider a professional teacher vs learn by yourself from books and videos. For a brass instrument, we would suggest getting a great teacher. The shape and position of your lips, facial muscles, tongue and teeth make a massive difference when playing a trombone. The technical term for this is called the embouchure, and it’s very, very important. It really can be the difference of you actually making a sound – or not…
Research is great, but be careful about doing too much of it. You could spend months learning theory, but it doesn’t mean you can actually play the instrument. To be able to do that, you’ll need to put the Trombone to your mouth and actually start blowing!
One of the things to remember about learning an instrument is that it doesn’t matter how talented you are; there are no shortcuts. So learn methodically with a teacher who is recommended.
